We even do not attempt to judge whether British Midland or Star Alliance behaved in a more shameful manner - but both certainly don't deserve any merits. Both communicated on April 20 that British Midland would leave the Star Alliance (as expected) - on April 20. Maximum note to both of them for destroying trust of customers! Diamond Club members have at least still until May 31 to earn and redeem miles on all Star partners (with the exception of Lufthansa - see last month) as well as to use the elite advantages. Elite members can now get their status matched in the program of British Airways, Executive Club, and later on, miles will also become transferable between both programs. The complete merger of both programs will take place at the latest in September when the brand British Midland will disappear completely. Yes, yes, British Midland, we know that you are still trying to tell us that it is business as usual - but this is only the final lie: The former lower Star award tables have already been taken off the website, hoping that nobody will notice that an award flight in Business Class between Western Europe and the US does no longer cost 67,500 miles, but 118,000 on British Airways - as in the Executive Club. We will miss the real British Midland of Sir Bishop, but not what the owners Lufthansa and British Airways have made out of it with unified forces.
